Chattanooga was fortunate, recently, to merit a visit from world-renown performers Celtic Woman. Their performance at Memorial Auditorium was one of the most spectacular events Chattanooga citizens have had the good fortune to experience during the 17 years I have been living here.
It is remarkable that a city this size could afford to host such a group, famous for their wonderful blend of celtic, operatic, pop, orchestral and operatic performances blended with first-class theatrical staging - the lighting, sound, set, even the wireless mikes - all contributed to a memorable performance.
None of this would have been possible without the leadership of Paul Grove, the new general manager of WTCI, Channel 45, the local Public Broadcasting System outlet. He was willing to partner with the Memorial Auditorium folks to put on this fantastic opportunity for local citizens.
Sincere thanks are extended to Mr. Grove of WTCI, the wonderful WTCI contributors and benefactors and ticket purchasers who paid a bit more than normal market prices to make this opportunity a reality, and to Missy Crutchfield of the Chattanooga Education, Arts and Culture Department who helped make the Auditorium facilities and its wonderful staff and volunteers available for the performance.
